Dear International Community
Help Nuwakot for Earthquake Relief – Nepal
Dear Generous and Compassion Donor
Summary
On 25 April, 2015, a 7.9 M earthquake struck Nuwakot and Rasuwa and other districts in Nepal near the capital of Kathmandu. In May 12, 2015 a second, 7.4 M earthquake struck. Under the umbrella coordination of the DISTRICT/CLUSTER DISASTER RESCUE COMMITTEE OF GOVERNMENT of NEPAL- KCDC and Aid groups and local nonprofits are mobilizing to provide support and emergency supplies to the people impacted by both earthquakes. All donations to this fund will exclusively support relief and recovery efforts the districts in Nepal.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
More information, visit the Reports and FAQ tabs. The earthquakes between Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Kathmandu, Gurkha, Dolkha and Sindhupalchowk have caused extensive damage in Nepal. While the death toll climbs above 8400, many more are injured and hundreds of thousands of Nepalese have been displaced.
More than 6 of our nonprofit partners have asked for help funding their relief and recovery efforts for survivors on the ground.
How will this project solve this problem?
All donations to this fund will support earthquake recovery and relief efforts in Nepal. Initially, the fund will help first responders meet survivors’ immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. Once initial relief work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted local organizations.
Potential Long Term Impact
We believe that organizations that are deeply-rooted in local communities are often in the best position to provide long-term support for disaster victims. By funding the relief efforts of local organizations, donations to this fund have the potential to build stronger disaster-response capacity so that these organizations are better equipped to face future disasters. KCDC/DDRC will post reports about how funds have been used and will email these reports to donors and subscribers.
Sincerely yours
Tanka Lama ( We are also victim in Nuwakot Nepal)
